SonicWALL (News - Alert), a provider of security infrastructure solutions to organizations, now uses InSync Software’s Edgeware platform and Asset Tracking Solution to improve inventory visibility and performance of original device manufacturers (ODMs), said an announcement from SonicWALL today.

 

InSync's Asset Tracking Solutions use passive GEN2 ultra high frequency radio frequency identification (UHF RFID) tags, each carrying item-specific product information applied on their product shells. UHF RFID antennas are deployed at the entry and exit points at the manufacturer’s facility to check the shipments and record their entry or exit.

 

According to Atul Dhablania, vice president of operations for SonicWALL, InSync Software solutions are capable of providing a single dashboard view of all inventory locations.

 

“InSync's solution has delivered this real-time visibility and has additionally allowed us to better manage our ODMs by providing us with indisputable performance metrics,” said Dhablania.

 

At first, InSync's software transforms data using pre-defined business logic. It then packages and sends the data to SonicWALL's inventory tracking system. The software automates the sending of event notices and messages when they occur, and triggers alerts when necessary. Dashboard views allow operators onsite or remotely to track an asset’s expected route, history, and condition, as well as view real-time inventory levels in remote locations and in-transit, said officials.

 

According to SonicWALL, InSync solutions lower inventory levels and improve ODM performance. They reduce in-transit times and lead times and offer a scalable solution that could provide real-time visibility of inventory, which can be deployed through the company’s supply chain. The solution also provides the ability to integrate item-level processes information from SonicWALL’s suppliers into their existing ERP system. SonicWALL is able to use the integrated data to optimize and automate business processes.

 

Along with InSync's Asset Tracking Solution, SonicWALL uses InSync's Edgeware application platform to utilize RFID infrastructure and minimize development and deployment time. The Asset Tracking Solution that runs on the Edgeware platform makes use of RFID data from all locations. Using this solution, operators can configure, monitor and maintain RFID and barcode devices in the manufacturing and distribution facilities.
