Independent research firm Forrester (News - Alert) has rated AT&T Inc. as a leader among managed multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) services providers. According to the Forrester Wave Domestic North American Managed MPLS Services, Q4 2008 (October 2008) report, “AT&T (News - Alert) leads its U.S. peers in operations support strength, domestic network scale, and access breadth and depth."
An assessment of key telecommunications services providers, the report points out that AT&T, "has the greatest market presence, including the largest domestic managed MPLS customer base and revenues. It also has the strongest sales capabilities of any North American provider."
"We are pleased to be recognized as a leader in The Forrester Wave's report on managed MPLS services," said Dale McHenry, vice president, Enterprise Networking, AT&T. "We continue to work very hard to deliver the most sophisticated IP-based MPLS services in the industry that drive real value for all of our customers."
First of all, Forrester conducted primary research and prepared a list of vendors to be evaluated for their MPLS services. The vendors were shortlisted based on a number of criteria, including product and service fit, customer success and Forrester client demand. The leading vendor was then selected based on another set of criteria, including current MPLS offering, strategy, MPLS services presence, momentum and commitment to managed MPLS service as an avenue of growth.
