Vertical Communications (News - Alert) is a company that provides businesses with communications solutions designed for today’s environment. Their goal is to enable companies to better communicate providing its customers with voice, mobile and collaboration technologies that improve critical business workflows.
Early last week, Vertical announced the release of version 5.0 of its Wave IP platform software. A phone system is responsible for a lot these days it is not just for making and receiving phone calls. Today it handles different types of technologies across multiple locations and it needs to host important business applications with all the supporting hardware and software. The Wave IP platform was one of the first IP-based business communications platforms with a suite of applications Inside.
According to a review in Channel Partners, release 5.0 of Vertical’s Wave IP platform includes the following;
- Updated core platform services, including support for MS SQL 2012
- Support for automated software updates via Vertical Updates
- High density call recording (up to 125 simultaneous call recording sessions)
- New features and tools for streamlined provisioning and deployment
- New Vertical IP phone family
- Feature enhancements for mobile and desktop UC, including seamless session handoff between devices
- Expanded support for third-party SIP phones, including Polycom (News - Alert) VVX
- New bundled applications for inbound IVR
This was actually a multi-fold announcement as the company also introduced a new cloud service called Vertical Updates, along with a new series of Vertical IP phones. The IP platform is only as good as what is attached to it and Vertical announced four new Edge 9800 series IP Gigabit Ethernet phones offering various options.
One of the problems we have seen with IP phone systems is that the update process is not always an easy one. As the technology continues to mature, there is almost a constant stream of updates required to keep the system running at peak capacity. Vertical’s answer to this issue is to simplify the process.
Vertical delivers software enhancements to its customer base almost on a continuous basis. Thanks to Vertical Updates, that process has now been fully automated as a new service. Vertical Updates delivers steady updates from Vertical’s secure cloud so enterprises can easily take advantage of the most recent security and feature updates from Vertical.
Peter Bailey, Vertical’s CEO, made the following comments, “The Vertical brand has always stood for innovation and engineering excellence. This latest Wave IP release continues our commitment to deliver outstanding solutions and services developed to help improve critical business workflows in today’s modern enterprise. The Wave IP 5.0 platform, Vertical Updates feature and new family of phones are specifically designed to help our customers significantly increase productivity, reduce costs and improve efficiency throughout the entire organization."
