Audioboo and SpinVox have launched the SpinVox (News - Alert) API for automatically converting speech to text across Audioboo’s applications such as iPhone podcasting and Twitter posting. SpinVox API is available in English, Spanish, German and French.
Established in March, Audioboo aims to re-invent the spoken word as a medium easily shareable across all social media. Audioboo is a complete platform for creating, storing and sharing audio content with full read/write APIs. These APIs enable integration with websites for content distribution as well as the development of services for content generation across multiple web and mobile platforms.
Audioboo’s Website attracts more than 100,000 unique users, RSS and iTunes links every week. The Audioboo Pro account has already been used by ITV.com for the FA Cup Final and by Radio 1 for their Big Weekend event.
According to Mark Rock, the chief executive officer of Audioboo, the deal with Spinvox is important since the company is rolling out both the API and business model. Any developer will be able to build their own mobile and Web applications to record to Audioboo with the Audioboo API. An important addition to this is the integration of SpinVox, which is being delivered quickly through the SpinVox API.
SpinVox captures spoken messages and then converts them to text. SpinVox API utilizes SpinVox VMCS, the largest commercial speech platform in the world as well as the world’s first Cloud speech service. The SpinVox API provides a fully hosted platform with proven scale-on-demand capability and reliability to deliver on commercial strength service level agreements.
Rock said that the company has already started to launch Audioboo Pro accounts for media companies on a large scale. The Audioboo Pro accounts increase the recording time available and add a number of Web-based tools to help companies manage content. An additional feature of SpinVox integration, Audioboo Pro, will let journalists record draft articles and then automatically convert them to text and sent to their news desks.
A speech technology company, SpinVox provides voice to text messaging services. These services are being used daily by millions of people. SpinVox has essentially converged voice and text in order to create the fastest-growing form of messaging: Voice-to-Content.
As TMCnet recently reported, SpinVox announced that its speech-to-text conversion service is being deployed as a network service through an additional 12 countries in Telefónica’s mobile operations across Latin America.
