Conference Shines Spotlight on Strategies for Growth in Machine-to-Machine Industry

NORWALK, Conn. – July 19, 2012 – TMC and Crossfire Media announced that industry visionaries Nikki Cuban of OnAsset (News - Alert) Intelligence and James Brehm of Compass Intelligence will co-chair the M2M Evolution Conference & Expo, to be held October 2-5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. M2M Evolution is collocated with ITEXPO (News - Alert), the world’s largest and best-attended communications and technology trade show.

The M2M Evolution Conference & Expo brings together experts in transportation, security, health, cold chain, automotive and safety to discuss strategies for machine-to-machine growth, as well as the new business of proactive response centers. Technology companies, including wireless carriers, platform companies and device manufacturers, will also present and discuss their roles in creating effective technologies and procedures that work to create an ecosystem for actionable data and information.

“At M2M Evolution, our goal is to create a conference that brings together M2M technology with the business needs of the deploying enterprise,” said Carl Ford, co-founder of Crossfire Media. “We’re pleased to have Nikki and James join us in Austin and share their expertise in machine-to-machine technologies and services as co-chairs of the M2M Evolution conference.”

Cuban is vice president of marketing and business development at OnAsset Intelligence, a leading service provider of remote monitoring and freight intelligence solutions. There, she pioneered FAA approval of the first airborne asset tracking device in the commercial air space. She first started in M2M as an industry analyst with Parks Associates (News - Alert) covering ultra-wideband communications.

From there, Cuban joined TXU Energy Services marketing team to launch a Web-based service that connected machines with users to help manage efficient energy spend.

“I have been involved with M2M for nearly a decade,” said Cuban. “While I have participated in many of the conferences and events that currently exist, none has been as rewarding as M2M Evolution. Our participation led to multiple opportunities to build relationships with existing and potential clients, and also served as an excellent platform for education. Furthermore, the general networking and experience sharing has been invaluable in developing new insights and opening up new doors - both personally and professionally. I look forward to co-chairing this year’s conference with James.”

James Brehm is senior strategist and consultant for Compass Intelligence, which provides strategy acceleration, consulting and ideation services, market segmentation, market research/intelligence and competitive analysis in the telecom, mobile, IT, M2M and network markets. Brehm’s primary responsibilities are to increase client value by evaluating, recommending, and creating innovative market strategies for Compass Intelligence’s high-tech clientele. Additionally, he directs the content, product development, and vendor/customer relations activities as it relates to the M2M syndicated and portal services. This includes leading and conducting primary and secondary market research, market sizing, forecasting, and other analyst responsibilities where needed. Brehm joined Compass Intelligence after spending nine years in multiple roles with Frost & Sullivan. Most recently, Brehm served as Senior Consultant in Frost & Sullivan’s Information and Communication Technology practice where he led much of the bespoke research for Frost & Sullivan’s wireless customers. Prior to Frost & Sullivan, Brehm worked in marketing, sales management and business development roles for Rackspace (News - Alert) Managed Hosting and Interland (now Web.com), two of the largest pure play Web hosting companies in the United States.

“While historically, enterprises have deployed M2M solutions for one of two reasons – efficiency gains or cost savings – forward thinking companies are now looking to deploy M2M to extend services, enable new business models, or create new revenue streams,” Brehm said. “M2M has finally moved from being a hyped topic that will happen tomorrow to something that is impacting our daily lives. At M2M Evolution, I’m looking forward to bringing together thought leaders from disparate organizations to explore what can happen when you combine hardware, software, and high speed wireless connectivity to solve today’s business and social problems.”
