In an effort to provide high-quality telemetry, vehicular connectivity and telematics solutions to customers on the AT&T (News - Alert) network, intelligent wireless solutions provider Novatel Wireless has successfully attained AT&T network certification for its some of its advanced machine to machine (M2M) devices.

Some of the M2M devices from Novatel that have attained compatibility certificate on AT&T’s network are: the MiFi Powered SA 2100, the MT 4100 mobile tracking device, the SA-G+ telemetry platform and the Enabler HS 3002 module.

As specialized wireless solutions provider to carriers, distributors, retailers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and vertical markets worldwide, Novatel holds an objective to provide anywhere, anytime communications solutions for consumers and enterprises. Thus, interoperability with the carrier’s network is a must. The recent certification justifies its objectives.

The MiFi Powered SA 2100, which received the AT&T network certification, is a programmable M2M gateway solution. It can be used for commercial and consumer telematics as well as fixed telemetry markets.

According to Novatel, the MiFi Powered SA 2100 is tailor-made for high-bandwidth M2M applications, and enables Internet connectivity via 4G LTE (News - Alert) for Ethernet, USB, GPIOs and Wi-Fi enabled solutions in areas such as telemetry, fleet management, connected car, digital signage and security.

The MT 4100, which received the AT&T network certification, is a flexible, M2M device designed for: fleet management, to deliver insurance telematics and stolen vehicle recovery solutions.

According to Novatel, the MT 4100 (on AT&T HSPA (high speed packet access (HSPA) network) is capable of offering superior GPS (global positioning system) location performance, using an on-board Smart Agent event engine for accelerometer based driver behavior reporting, geo-fencing, messaging and other events over the AT&T HSPA network.

In addition, the MT 4100 also features multiple I/O ports, 1-Wire interface, Garmin (News - Alert) fleet management interface (FMI) and an M2M API (application programming interface). These features not only simplify fleet management back-office integration but also make the device compatible with the on-board Smart Agent event engine.

The SA-G+, which earned the AT&T network certification, recently, operates over the HSPA network. It primarily provides connectivity for machines requiring low data throughput to the mobile Internet.

The other M2M device to have received the certification is the Enabler HS 3002. It is a 3G M2M HSPA module equipped with an embedded Smart Agent event engine. It is ideal for applications requiring low power consumption, emergency voice, extended temperature range and multiple radio choices providing seamless integration into mission-critical OEM solutions, cites Novatel in a statement.

Joe Peterson, vice president of sales, Novatel Wireless’ (News - Alert) M2M business unit, said in a statement, “Novatel Wireless is dedicated to providing industry leading M2M solutions for a wide variety of applications. With the recent certification of the SA 2100 to run on AT&T’s network, our industry-leading portfolio of M2M devices expands the range of customer applications supported including telematics, usage based insurance, in-vehicle Internet connectivity, vehicle tracking, theft recovery and more.”
