Gilat Satellite Networks (News - Alert) Ltd., a provider of satellite networking technology, solutions and services, recently announced that its Satcom-On-The-Move terminals have been selected by Terabit Wave Co. Ltd., a telecommunications systems integrator located in Myanmar, for a Myanmar governmental agency. The rollout is expected during the third and fourth quarters of 2014.

As per the reports, Terabit Wave has selected SkyEdge II hub along with terminals and associated modems. The range of terminals selected by Terabit Wave includes SatTrooper Manpacks, etc.

The SkyEdge II platform is designed and optimized for broadband satellite communications, supporting data, VoIP and video applications. SkyEdge II offers a high-performance, cost-effective way to deliver the communications services that enterprises, carriers, service providers and governments require.

The SatTrooper series of tactical, quick-deploy communications solutions for warfighters and military forces provide dependable data, video and telephony in a compact, portable manpack. The antenna, built-in modem, BUC and LNB are integrated in one, ruggedized enclosure, enabling rapid connectivity even in the harshest environmental conditions.

"Terabit Wave needed to provide a Ku-band Satcom-On-The-Move integrated solution," added Erez Antebi, Gilat's CEO. "Our terminals answered their specifications not only for their compact, lightweight design but also because they can be set up and dismantled quickly and are easy to operate."

In related news, Wireless Nation, a leading New Zealand ISP, has selected, and will be deploying Gilat’s SkyEdge II VSATs, powered by Optus’s (News - Alert) wholesale satellite services.

Wireless Nation plans to upgrade its broadband services for residential, SMEs, corporate and government customers. As per the plan, the ISP is focusing on providing high-speed connectivity to suburban and remote regions of New Zealand with SkyEdge II VSATs. The VSAT network is based on SkyEdge II WebEnhance and Accent terminals.

Officials with Gilat said that WebEnhance provides bandwidth efficiency with high download rates of over 30Mbps. The Accent terminal supports both TDMA and SCPC return links for upstream throughput of over 20Mbps in SCPC mode, with a quick change to TDMA mode when lower rates are needed.
