Saint Martin's University Deploys Auconet BIC Solution

Saint Martin’s University, a Washington state private university, has deployed Business Infrastructure Control Solution from Auconet.

Auconet BICS is a multi-tenant, cloud or on-premises platform that provides enterprises with real-time visibility and automated, optimized control across all network device vendors’ solutions.

The solution provides the Lacey, Washington-based University with a new approach to network access control (NAC) and centralized network management for its VLAN-based universe of wired and wireless devices and endpoints.

Auconet BIC Solution was operational in less than two weeks, and saved time and money for the University. It also simplified and streamlined management of the entire network and its high number of virtual LANs.

The University no longer has to intervene manually to configure new user devices for network access.

“Using narrowly focused NAC solutions, designed to protect the network from viruses, just doesn’t make sense anymore,” said Neal Bullinger, senior systems administrator at Saint Martin’s University. “You spend a lot of money to protect against a problem that no longer exists. The combination of NAC and infrastructure control is required to guard against many different types of threats and bad behavior."

Before deploying Auconet BIC, Saint Martin’s University was searching for a very comprehensive, zero-maintenance approach to address its requirements.

Auconet was selected after the evaluation of several NAC vendors as the company demonstrated its ability to handle Port Provisioning/MAC Authorization, and could enable easy, self-registration of new devices.

This MAC-based BIC solution is vendor independent and works with all kinds of network devices and endpoints. Because the solution is Web-based, its deployment does not require any changes to the existing infrastructure.
