PeerApp, a company that offers Internet content delivery solutions, recently announced a reseller agreement with WDC Networks, a value-added distributor, to expand its presence in the Brazilian market. As per the terms of the agreement, WDC Networks will help PeerApp offer its UltraBand transparent caching solution to regional and local ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and cable operators in Brazil.
The UltraBand solution from PeerApp optimizes delivery of Internet video services, file sharing applications, software distribution services and web browsing – virtually any service or application that consists of bandwidth-consuming large objects or of numerous small objects that delay page downloads. UltraBand is focused on resolving congestion while meeting subscribers’ demand for content and for delay-free web browsing. The solution can be implemented on its own or as part of an edge caching layer that serves both unmanaged OTT and managed CDN traffic.
"We are pleased to have such an experienced partner to help us expand our existing presence in the important Brazilian market," explained Avi Tenenbaum, Senior Vice President Global Sales, for PeerApp. "Having local expertise available to customers is part of our strategic goal to help operators around the world better manage and profit from the explosion of broadband data usage by adding caching in-network to bring content closer to end users."
Recently, UltraBand solution received a 2014 Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award from Cable.TMCnet.com, a TMC (News - Alert) sponsored cable technology website. Winners were announced via press release and were featured in the Cable Spotlight e-newsletter.
"Broadband access continues to grow rapidly in Brazil. According to a recent survey of the Brazilian Telecommunications Association (Telebrasil), 47.7 million new broadband accounts were activated last year," said Vanderlei Rigatieri Jr., CEO at WDC Networks. "WDC Networks is helping Service Providers increase their capacity and with PeerApp, ISPs will be able to do that as well as ensure a high quality of experience for their end customers."
