Aruba Networks (News
- Alert), a provider of next-generation network access solutions for the mobile enterprise, recently announced that Wi-Fi Alliance has selected the company’s wireless LAN products for the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint test bed.
Wi-Fi Alliance (News - Alert) recently expanded its important Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint program. Now, in addition to seamless connection and WPA2 security for mobile devices in Wi-Fi hotspots, Passpoint provides a streamlined method to establish new user accounts and connect Wi-Fi-only devices such as tablets and notebooks. The new features in Passpoint expand the program's strategic value to mobile and fixed operators, and open opportunities for other sectors as they invest in Wi-Fi to meet business challenges.
As per the agreement, Aruba products, including 3600 Mobility Controllers, AP-105 Access Points (APs) and the Online Sign-Up (OSU) policy server, will be supporting newer capabilities of the Wi-Fi Alliance Passpoint test bed.
Aruba enterprise WLAN products operate at gigabit speeds and connect more devices and apps in the most crowded places. Easily deployed over any wired network, Aruba wireless LANs give more Wi-Fi capacity to devices that are far away. They also support patented ClientMatch technology to eliminate sticky clients and AppRF technology, which features an integrated mobility firewall that prioritizes the handling of over 1,500 apps, including cloud and unified communication apps.
“The newly expanded features in Passpoint represent major milestones and further our common industry goal of ensuring seamless, secure connectivity for hotspot users,” said Keerti Melkote (News - Alert), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), for Aruba Networks. “We are pleased to play a role in the important initiatives led by organizations like Wi-Fi Alliance and the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) that will streamline the process of connecting to and roaming across Wi-Fi networks easily and securely.”
In related news, Aruba Networks recently brought enterprise-grade gigabit Wi-Fi to the great outdoors for the first time. Ideal for densely occupied public facing enterprises that require high-performance and small cell capabilities, the new Aruba 270 Series Access Points (APs) reset the bar for outdoor Wi-Fi performance, aesthetics and ease of deployment in a form-factor designed to blend into its environment.
