Businesses that rely on high-speed Internet services are always looking for multiple redundancies so disruptions are kept to a bare minimum if any of the systems fail. This generally requires bringing together multiple technologies and having them work in concert to back up one another for higher rates of reliability and availability. The new nxCONNECT solution from Numerex is going to give organizations that depend on high-speed Internet services for their business connectivity a wireless LTE (News - Alert) backup service. It is going to use the company's cellular network service as a backup connection for next generation communications when broadband network outages take place.
Even for multiple system operators (MSOs) and communication service providers (CSPs) that offer service level agreements (SLAs) with high 9s, something can always go wrong. When there is a service interruption, the impact on their customers can have huge ramifications, amounting to losses up to the millions of dollars for just minutes of network outage. This is because mission-critical functions such as next generation communications, customer service, point-of-sale (POS) and e-commerce go down along with the broadband service.
Shu Gan, Chief Marketing Officer at Numerx, said, “We are excited to launch this unique capability to providers of broadband services which allows them to enhance their commercial internet offering with an automatic connectivity backup in the event of a primary service outage. It brings peace of mind to their customers, knowing that their business will stay connected even if the primary broadband connection goes down.”
The nxCONNECT solution provides this service by bringing together Numerex (News - Alert)'s network partnerships with all tier-1 U.S. and global wireless carriers. Having the infrastructure of the tier-1 carriers is essential to delivering the best possible service and ensuring high levels of availability. The company is using its nxFAST platform to power the new solution, which is completely bundled with a turn-key offering that will include multiple cellular network services, an intelligent router provided by Cradlepoint, and a purpose-built online management portal.
Whenever there is an outage, the router immediately detects the lack of broadband signal and it makes another connection automatically using a network selection feature. It is able to check on the fastest, most reliable network available from different options and it optimizes these features based on the connection.
Organizations can use the online portal to manage connectivity, get notifications, retrieve reports and see event activity so they can maintain Internet speed, up-time, and reliability when there is a network outage.
This type of reliability means broadband service providers now have a new value-added service with revenue generating opportunities for companies that provide next generation communications. And for companies that demand high-availability, each new redundancy adds another level of insurance when it comes to being on 24/7 without any interruptions.
