Contact centers throughout the world are under persistent pressure to reduce costs while also maintaining strong customer service levels. To effectively achieve this balance, many centers must look to next-generation technologies to help drive better efficiency. Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP
) is one such technology that is changing the balance sheet of the global contact center.
Instant Answering Service sought a more cost effective way to manage the calls within its call center. The company tested and studied a variety of VoIP providers and selected Vonage (News - Alert) to provide this service.
Traditionally, most VoIP services only worked over a computer or special VoIP phone. Today, most VoIP services allow the use of a standard telephone connected to a VoIP adapter. VoIP services convert your voice into a digital signal that travels over the Internet.
Instant Answering Service’s T. Andrews today announced that his company had selected Vonage, a decision based on the company’s customer service and reliability.
According to Andrews, VoIP services offer clients a cost-effective telephone answering service. Although some still question the reliability of using voice over the Internet, Andrews said the Instant Answering Service philosophy is to couple VoIP with the reliability of local and long distance traditional telephony call.
As the second largest provider of broadband telephone services, Vonage supports more than three million subscribers. The company uses the Internet along with a technology that enables companies to make and receive phone calls in conjunction with a broadband Internet connection.
Vonage also offers a variety of features and a cost effective communication service. The company provides users with an experience similar to that of traditional telephone services. Vonage’s service is sold primarily though the Internet, as well as several national retailers.
Vonage offers a “Residential Premium Unlimited” and a “Small Business Unlimited” calling plan. These plans provide consumers and businesses with unlimited local and long distance calling. This service also includes popular features like call waiting, call forwarding and voicemail. All of Vonage packages are offered at a low, flat monthly rate.
Andrews said he’s attended many seminars on VoIP to learn the importance of this technology. Instant Answering Service has worked with VoIP companies over the last seven years. Andrews said he’s witnessed improvements in the service as well and challenges overcome to improve the technology. Andrews said VoIP will continue to improve and become an even bigger and more vital tool in call center technology.
