Tata Communications Receives Certifications for Data Centers

Tata Communications (News - Alert), a communication solutions company, today announced that it has been awarded the International Organization for Standardization 20000-1:2005 and 27001:2005 certifications for its Global Managed Services Operations in the areas of Managed Hosting, Managed Storage Services and Hosted Messaging Services.

 

Data centers of the India-based company received the ISO 27001 and its ISO 14001 certifications have been renewed. These certifications boost the position of Tata Communications in the arena of hosting and managed services, company officials say.

 

Standards across a range of business, government and societal subjects are developed and published by ISO, officials say. Confirmation to basic operational best practices in the areas of customer service and security are validated by the ISO 20000 and 27001 certifications, respectively. These certifications are considered to be trusted and authoritative elements of the standards-based foundation, officials say.

 

L. Shekar, vice president of global managed services at Tata Communications, said that the managed services offered by Tata Communications are characterized by complexity and high levels of information security, and ISO certifications will help the company to significantly scale up its Global Command Center operations leading it to a consistent and improved customer experience.

 

The data centers of Tata Communications are located across three continents, and the company owns and operates them through a centrally management by the Managed Services Operations Center (MSOC) in India. All operational processes at the Tata Communications MSOC comply with the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), the prescribed manual for managing IT infrastructure, development, and operations, and the ISO certification awarded to it support the fact.

 

Abid Qadiri, vice president of data center and application services at Tata Communications, said that the company continues to pursue a leadership position among global managed hosting and storage service providers, as its data centers are being consistently expanded in the United States, United Kingdom, Asia and India. He added that to attain industry-leading certifications and participating in compliance reviews such as ISO and SAS (News - Alert)-70 for its worldwide data centers is an integral part of the overall global strategy of the company.
