Novell (News - Alert), Inc. is a well known provider of intelligent workload management solutions. The solutions span across physical, virtual and cloud computing environments and help the organizations, cost effectively deliver and manage computing services. Novell solutions are employed by the organizations for identity and security, systems management, collaboration and Linux-based operating platforms. The company has recently expanded its product portfolio, with the introduction of a new solution, called Novell Cloud Manager.

According to the company, this new solution enables customers to create and securely manage a cloud computing environment as a seamless extension of existing data center resources.

Novell Cloud Manager is one step ahead of its competitors with its ability to lock customers into proprietary technology stacks. Since it is designed for the heterogeneous IT environments, Novell Cloud Manager can offer the users the freedom and flexibility to create and manage private clouds which support all leading hypervisors, operating systems and hardware platforms.

Novell Cloud Manager happens to be the first ever solution to allow IT administrators package, price and present IT services on-demand through a customizable interface. Thus, Novel Cloud Manager allows the customers to leverage the benefits of cloud computing sans the security and compliance risks currently associated with public clouds.

According to a recent survey conducted on more than 200 IT professionals at large enterprises, Private Cloud Computing has been perceived as the next logical stop for IT management that can span across a heterogeneous infrastructure. Despite this over 90 percent of the respondents conveyed their concerns about the inherent security risks associated with public clouds environment. Novell stepped in to address these challenges.

“Novell Cloud Manager will simplify our IT service provisioning by enabling us to treat our physical resources and virtual infrastructure as a seamless private cloud and gain a much clearer and more granular understanding of our IT use and costs. Working with AkurIT, our Novell business partner, who implemented the virtual infrastructure and Novell Cloud Manager, our BIS Infrastructure team can be more responsive to changing business priorities. Novell Cloud Manager allows us to simplify and automate many of our business processes, accelerate IT service delivery as well as provide visibility and cost transparency to the business. Strategically, this will provide us with a competitive edge,” Ryan Klose, chief information officer of Premium Wine Brands for Pernod Ricard.

According to Novell Cloud Manager makes a single, comprehensive console for the users including business unit leaders, application teams and IT management. The solution can be used to request, approve, manage and report on IT services across their entire infrastructure. According to its maker, its hypervisor-agnostic architecture is just ideal for today’s business environment, where enterprises are increasingly deploying a mix of hypervisors in their data centers.
