Newcom International Ranks Fourth in Fast Twenty List

By Madhubanti Rudra, TMCnet Contributor

Defying recession, Miami-Based Satellite Communications Company NewCom International, attained a rare achievement—the supplier of innovative telecommunication solutions has been ranked the fourth fastest growing teleport in the world for 2010, by the World Teleport Association (WTA).

The ranking is the part of The Fast Twenty list compiled by the WTA. The ranking was attributed to all teleport-operating companies on the basis of the year-over-year revenue growth in their most recent fiscal years.

According to the WTA report, NewCom, which specializes in communications services for Africa, Latin America, Central America and The Caribbean, experienced a 45 percent growth rate—despite a rocky economy and fast-changing landscape in the telecommunications industry.

In a press release, NewCom International, which specializes in the field of transport of video, voice and data via satellite, attributed its success to diversification and bundled voice, video and data Solutions for Governments, GSM Operators, businesses and Oil/Mining Secto.

Unlike many of its competitors, who provide one-off services to the clients, NewCom bundles voice, video and data solutions into customized packages targeted to vertical markets in developing regions around the globe. NewCom's turnkey bundled packages include a variety of value-added services such as its VideoMeetings solution that facilitates telemedicine projects and virtual college classrooms, and its IPTV (News - Alert) services that bring news, entertainment and sports to content-hungry subscribers in developing countries.

“We are honored to be recognized for this achievement—particularly in light of the global recession that has gripped the economy for the past two years. Our success starts with a dedicated team and great customers. It can also be attributed to diversification: diversification of our footprint coverage, diversification of our products, and diversification of our technologies. We are focusing on services that cover a mass volume of users and we are ensuring that we work with a broad range of clients,” NewCom International President Jaime Dickinson noted in a statement. Dickinson was named WTA's 2010 Teleport Executive of the Year.

A few months back, NewCom International deployed an iDirect (News - Alert) Evolution platform over both NSS 10 C-band and T-11n KU-band throughout Africa. In 2009, NewCom deployed the Evolution hub in Latin America. With the launch of the new Evolution-based service from iDirec,t NewCom offered complete service coverage across both Africa and Latin America, ensuring customers on both continents receive optimized bandwidth performance at the most competitive rates possible.
