Asia-Pacific media companies are turning to Intelsat (News - Alert), a provider of satellite services, for regional expansion.
Recently, Hong Kong-based TVBI Company Limited (TVBI), the worldwide operating arm of Television Broadcasts Limited, one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of Chinese-language programming, renewed a multi-year agreement on Intelsat 19.
“These agreements exemplify the aggressive growth in media distribution services across Asia-Pacific,” said Terry Bleakley, Intelsat RVP of Asia-Pacific sales, in a statement.
Bleakley said that major programmers in the region continue to turn to Intelsat’s premier video neighborhoods for the flexible delivery of unique content on multiple platforms, reinforcing the company’s critical role in the global infrastructure.
The capacity will be used by TVBI to deliver its premier content to customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
Besides this, KDDI (News - Alert), a Japan-based global telecommunications company, has also signed an agreement with Intelsat to deliver managed media services via the IntelsatOne network.
Telecommunications organizations demand the kind of secure and ubiquitous broadband connectivity that in many cases only satellite can provide. Meeting those challenges, IntelsatOne Network Broadband services provide network operators the ability to deploy reliable, high-speed connectivity anywhere in the world rapidly and with minimal investment.
Earlier in March, Intelsat had announced a multi-year extension agreement with Lebanon-based ART/International Network Distribution (IND), an aggregator and distributor of niche and international channels in the global market.
ART/IND has extended its agreement on the Intelsat 21 satellite, located at 302° East, for the contribution and distribution of its key programming channels in the Americas.
As an Intelsat customer for more than a decade, ART/IND will join several premier media companies on the satellite in delivering a mix of compelling and diverse content. Intelsat 21, along with Intelsat 805, offers media companies the premier video neighborhoods and DTH platforms available in the Americas, providing unparalleled access to viewers.
