MindTouch, an open source alternative to Microsoft (News - Alert) SharePoint, has announced a new version of their Collaboration platform. This version offers 12x performance improvement for 'data-heavy' sites and is claimed to be integrated with the ability to enable companies that service large numbers of online users to confidently unleash the power of rich media, data transfer and rapid application development to their collaboration experience.
The company has claimed that they lead the Enterprise Collaborative Network market, offering open source solutions that increase workgroup efficiency and productivity and rapidly produces results through the use of collaborative intranets, extranets and knowledge bases.
Miguel de Icaza, vice president of developer platform at Novell (News - Alert) has said that MindTouch's new feature set will be a welcome addition to maintaining their online presence. They're very pleased with MindTouch as a platform for all of their new content sites, particularly as they continue to see exponential data increases.
