Empirix (News - Alert) Inc., a global provider of end-to-end network performance visibility, recently announced in a press release that its E-XMS service assurance solution for monitoring Voice over LTE (News - Alert) (VoLTE) is now available.
Empirix E-XMS offers a single solution for analyzing multi-service (voice, video, data) and multi-protocol (LTE, 3GPP, CDMA, IMS, SS7) environments. Capabilities include full correlation of user, control, transport, and security plane data. The solution is able to follow a communication event from start to finish, regardless of access point or service delivery method.
The solution minimizes downtime by quickly isolating and diagnosing service disruptions. Moreover, it also optimizes infrastructure investments by identifying bandwidth and quality issues. The solution efficiently manages technology upgrade and migration projects and allows the companies to gain an edge over competitors by rapidly deploying new services.
“Mobile networks add a new range of complexities that many operators are not sure how to handle,” said Bob Hockman (News - Alert), vice president of product management, Empirix. “Trying to accurately monitor mobile and wireline activities, along with skyrocketing voice, video and data traffic, is near impossible without a unified approach. Empirix is the only company that can assure the LTE environment as a whole, as well as handovers and legacy systems. With a complete understanding of how specific enhancements impact customer experience, operators can fully optimize performance and realize the full benefit of their technology investments.”
The solution is applicable for Mobile Broadband and MNOs, Fixed Network Operators, Cable Operators and MSOs, residential and business VoIP, video and IPTV (News
- Alert), femtocells, IP Core, IMS and LTE. Integrated with the Empirix architecture, the solution reduces “cost per problem” by enabling customers to identify the source of the problem and rectify it before it impacts the customer.
“LTE networks were originally the solution to handle increased data traffic, but with the growing presence of LTE devices, and the accompanying demand for voice services over the network, operators saw the need for a standardized approach,” said Rob Bamforth, principal analyst, Quocirca. “Regardless of the method implemented, VoLTE promises better call quality and more flexible services, like simultaneous voice and data, though there are a number of challenges that mobile operators will need to overcome, particularly related to finding and resolving issues before they can impact the end-user. This requires a deep visibility into the network that has not previously been available.”
