Toshiba’s (News - Alert) Strata CIX VoIP business communication systems are now certified interoperable with NTELOS’ SIP trunking service, the two companies announced today.

"NTELOS Integrated Trunking gives enterprise users of Toshiba an affordable alternative to traditional land lines, providing them with the best of Toshiba's enterprise telephony capabilities and reliable SIP Trunking," said Shahin Hatamian, vice president of product management for Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division, in a release.

NTELOS’ SIP trunking allows for dynamic bandwidth allocation between Internet access, Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity and voice, with a reduced number of trunks required. It offers numerous advanced features and capabilities that distinguish it from traditional channelized trunking, including a primary rate interface (PRI) that allows multiple voice sessions on a broadband pipe using an IP-enabled PBX (News - Alert) or key system; expanded local calling; Integrated Trunking scalability, which combines voice and data on one pipe with room for growth; NTELOS Integrated Trunking, which provides connectivity to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) over a pipe shared between voice and data services, allowing customers to make better use of T-1 or Metro Ethernet transport costs; and Integrated Trunking over T-1, which includes Quality of Service (QoS) for voice traffic on NTELOS facilities.

"With this certification, Authorized Toshiba dealers can now offer NTELOS Integrated Trunking to their Toshiba Strata CIX customers, providing a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage SIP solution as part of their overall enterprise telephony system," said John Spilman, director of product management and sales engineering, NTELOS.

The family of Toshiba Strata CIX IP communication systems, consisting of six models supporting anywhere from four to 440 trunks, or eight to 1,000 telephone lines, offer flexibility, scalability and reliability. These full-featured IP PBXs help businesses save money on their telecommunications costs by enabling them to take advantage of VoIP technology, minimizing long-distance charges. They offer a range of advanced features and capabilities, including the ability to connect seamlessly to high-speed digital services; automatically route outgoing calls over the least costly trunk line or long-distance carrier; restrict access to long-distance calls; and more easily evaluate incoming/outgoing call patterns to make stronger management decisions and simplify client billing. What’s more, they sport Web-based administration, which means an IT department can configure and test the system remotely.

 

What’s more the Strata CIX line offers mobility options that enable employees to have full digital desk phone functionality with them, no matter where they go, with features such as desk telephone extension numbers, call forwarding, caller ID and multi-line access – it even lets employees seamlessly switch between cordless and digital desk telephones during a call. Other value-added applications include auto attendant, automated speech recognition (ASR); text-to-speech (TTS); unified messaging and fax integration; third party CTI (News - Alert) applications; and Toshiba’s FeatureFlex adaptability tools.

Earlier this month Toshiba announced that its Strata CIX line is now certified interoperable with XO Communications' (News - Alert) SIP trunking solution, XO SIP.
