WidePoint, Protexx, Teleco Demo Advanced Authentication and Encryption Solution

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

WidePoint Corporation, specializing in wireless mobility management and cybersecurity solutions, announced that its Protexx subsidiary and channel partner, Teleco Systems, has successfully completed the demonstration of an advanced authentication and encryption solution.

Company sources explained that the solution is most suitable for the proposed requirements of the Criminal Justice Information services Security Policy draft update from the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The demonstration was carried out in the presence of Rock County, Wisconsin officials at the 911 Center.

The FBI’s CJIS Security Policy describes a minimum set of security requirements that can maintain or protect the full lifecycle of Criminal Justice Information, whether at rest or in transit. The CJIS draft policy update, which is expected to take effect on January 1, 2011, defines requirements for “Advanced Authentication and Encryption” deployed by authorized users accessing CJIS data from remote locations.

Also this policy applies to every individual contractor, private entity, non-criminal justice agency representative, or member of a criminal justice entity that operates in support of, or needs access to Criminal Justice Information and Personally Identifiable Information, said official sources.

CJIS Security Policy is applicable to about 3,000 counties, 64 parishes, 16 boroughs and 41 independent municipalities or cities in the United States that have to address and meet the requirements of the CJIS Security Policy and the new draft update.

In a release Peter Letizia, President of Protexx said, “We believe our industry leading performance and the competitive pricing of this system will enable us to offer a winning solution in addressing the needs of this large community of criminal justice participants.”

Henry Hile, CEO of Teleco Systems, explained that the Protexx Solution supports the CJIS Draft Policy Update requirements for a secure framework across the broad spectrum of the criminal justice and noncriminal justice communities.

“We believe its high performance, scalability and ease of deployment are unmatched at this price point, particularly in an environment that is dominated by less capable virtual private network solutions,” Hile commented.

Protexx offers network security solutions specializing in the definition, implementation and maintenance of layered security solutions designed to protect personal identity, data-in-motion and network access through asymmetric authentication and encryption methodologies. The company’s products include PKI deployed digital certificates, strong encryption VPN services and supporting appliances for the management of authentication and encrypted communications.

Teleco provides radio frequency engineering and products for LANS and WANS.  Teleco offerings include emerging technologies like 3G-4G VoIP and VoIP over WLANs and WANS, as well as LAN and MESH WAN implementation and development.
