JSCAPE, a secure File Transfer Protocol solutions and services company, reportedly has signed an agreement with PhoneFactor, a provider of tokenless two-factor authentication, for delivering an integrated security solution to JSCAPE customers.
The tokenless authentication is aimed at mission-critical government and financial industry customers looking for a cost-effective security solution.
Under the agreement, JSCAPE users can log in with a user name and password. Instantly, they will receive a phone call. Users have to just answer and press # or enter a PIN. Once the login procedure is over, PhoneFactor adds a critical layer of security with little impact to the JSCAPE user experience.
JSCAPE has been providing software components and server solutions for securing file transfers and network communications. The company offers secure file transfer and networking components for both Java and Microsoft .NET (News - Alert) development environments, as well as secure managed file transfer servers for Linux, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS X platforms.
“Our customers include government agencies and financial institutions, so security is a top priority,” said Van Glass, chief executive officer at JSCAPE. “After a thorough evaluation of two-factor authentication solutions, we found that PhoneFactor provides our customers with an additional layer of security that is much easier to use, and less expensive, than typical hardware token-based solutions.”
Founded in 2001, PhoneFactor (formerly Positive Networks (News - Alert)) has been focusing in the PositivePRO secure remote access service, which today enables highly-secure network access for thousands of remote workers. PhoneFactor can be setup in minutes and eliminates the need for tokens, smart cards or certificates.
According to JSCAPE official, the integration demonstrates the simplicity of adding two-factor authentication to a critical business application.
“One key benefit of PhoneFactor is the ease of integration with third party applications and services,” said Klint Borozan, senior vice president at PhoneFactor. “To make this security model of the future universally accessible, the integration had to be simple, cost-effective and easy to use.”
