It was a busy week in the SIP Trunking sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.

TMCnet’s Rachel Ramsey reported that Ingate Systems, a source of enterprise session border controllers (E-SBC), is now offering the Ingate Software Firewall/SIParator, free for 30 days. The Software Firewall/SIParator is the software version of Ingate’s E-SBCs, used by enterprises that want to deploy Ingate products on their own hardware platforms.

TMCnet also carried a story that QiComm’s carrier voice division has selected the Verscom Centralized Routing System to move its main U.K. switching center to a new facility in London. The system provides carrier-grade centralized routing with a clustered real-time database. The system includes a SIP Redirector route feature, which can solve route management issues in any multivendor, multi-node and multisite packet voice networks.

In another story, a new Internet-access gateway from Nomadix, the AG 5800, now extends a wired or Wi-Fi network to create a public Internet access network. It has features which can overcome fluctuating bandwidth. The gateway can support 250 devices and scales to 4,000 simultaneous device connections. The company explains the gateway is targeted toward medium- to-large facilities, such as hotels, airports, enterprises and convention centers.

It was reported, too, that Apica unveiled an AMI for Apica ProxySniffer, which provides mega-load testing capabilities to users of Amazon Web Services (News - Alert). It provides recording of load test scenarios via pre-surfing with any Web browser. These include Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer.

And a new study from Access Markets International (AMI) Partners projects that worldwide spending on security products and services (on-premise and cloud) by small- and-medium-sized businesses will reach $19 billion by 2016. In addition, security-based spending will increase by 10 percent between 2011 and 2016. Cloud security services (of the total spending on security products and services) now accounts for almost 17 percent. That amount is projected to increase to 24 percent by 2016.
