Eze Castle recently announced that its VoIP service, Eze Voice, is now available in the U.K. This gives clients from one of the world’s biggest markets access to Eze Castle’s global network specifically designed for hedge fund businesses.

According to its website, Boston-based Eze Castle Integration (ECI) started out in 2005 as a cloud platform for a hedge fund based in New York. From there, the company which was originally limited in scope took on a life of its own. Several spin-off funds emerged from the original and all used ECI’s cloud services.

This led to the creation of the Hedge Fund Hotel, a building in New York with office suites specifically set up for hedge fund firms with connectivity to ECI’s cloud. This in turn, led to the creation of the Eze Private Cloud, which allowed firms to connect from any U.S. location. This connectivity has since expanded to three continents.

Downtime can be devastating in an industry like hedge fund trading, where 24/7/365 access to global financial critical markets is critical. As a result, ECI offers the Eze Vault, a backup and recovery solution more reliable than traditional tape backups.

Another related service that ECI provides is business continuity planning. This is not a one-size-fits-all software package that you access from the cloud; it requires meeting with a consultant to assess risks and develop a unique solution to keep the business running.

Global hedge fund assets are not measured in billions, but instead in trillions, having reached $3.17 trillion back in May. It’s not clear how much of this amount is tied to ECI cloud services, but it’s safe to say the company has a significant piece of the market. ECI has 650 clients and individual hedge funds often have assets on the order of billions of dollars.

Given that three of the top ten hedge fund firms in the world are based in the U.K., it only makes sense that ECI would make Eze Voice available in that country. The company is well-established as a hedge fund IT provider and should remain that way for the next few years.
