Gartner Lists Mitel as Leader in Corporate Telephony Market

Mitel (News - Alert), a developer of communications software for enterprises, recently announced that it has found a top spot in one of the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant studies.

In Gartner’s (News - Alert) “Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony,” Mitel has achieved a rating of “Leader” for its various software offerings in that market. The report ranks a number of businesses in the field according to their current and potential ability to provide enterprises with functional and innovate products. From least to greatest, concerning that ability, businesses may be recognized as Challengers, Niche Players, Visionaries, and Leaders, so making it to the Leader segment, as Mitel has done, shows its prowess in the field.

Rich McBee (News - Alert), the president and CEO of Mitel, commented on the state of the market and his company’s ability to produce software that matches clients’ needs.

“Customers today are increasingly looking for vendors to simplify their communications solutions and to remove the seams that have previously resulted in siloed, separate, and proprietary systems that have trapped them,” McBee said. Products such as MiVoice and MiCollab try to break down those solos and create a more unified set of software that assists individuals in all their communications and collaborations throughout the work day.

He continued by noting Mitel’s various other appearances in Gartner studies and the standing those accolades suggest. Mitel has been recognized as a major player in unified communications, contact center infrastructure, and unified communications as a service.

The MiVoice platform, in particular, offers businesses a communications server that can be deployed in a number of ways – with or without a media gateway, centralized or distributed. It can work alongside the other primary Mitel products such as MiCollab, for collaboration tools, and MiContact, the contact center that provides businesses with multichannel self-service, mobile chat, and other advanced tools for connecting with consumers.

Gartner also noted in its report that the enterprise communications market, as a whole, is moving away from hardware and toward software-based tools. Mitel appears poised to continue leading the pack with its current set of products that have proved effective in the past and seem to already have the future in mind.
