Not often do we see lengthy reports about non-profits, especially reports with good news. Within the sometimes-cutthroat world of business, non-profits can struggle to keep pace. This is not the case for Goodwill Industries.

Although many people know Goodwill for its retail locations, the non-profit operates a number of donation centers and job connection centers to collect goods and help people find jobs. In Houston, Goodwill Houston operates 58 retail, 51 donation, and nine job connection centers, and it has built that empire of altruism with a long-standing relationship with Alpheus Communications (News - Alert). In all those locations, Goodwill Houston uses Alpheus broadband services for voice, video, and data transmission. This month marks the pair’s 10-year anniversary.

Charles Canton, the vice president of operations at Goodwill Houston commented that Alpheus has adapted its services to his organization’s growing needs.

“Alpheus has partnered with us over the years, reinventing the network to support our rapidly growing organization,” Canton said. “Alpheus also provides data-center services, ensuring we can continue critical operations even in the event of a natural disaster.”

Further, Steve Lufburrow, the president and CEO of Goodwill Houston, noted that this partnership is essential to the job creation services that the non-profit offers throughout the area. At events such as Goodwill’s Moreton Acheivement Awards Luncheon, which celebrates the achievement of Goodwill employees and service recipients for their hard work, broadband connections are singularly useful in producing a positive message to all attendees. Such events collect funds that assist future operations that also call for voice, video, data, and information backup services.

Goodwill operates largely on the budget gained from sales of donations it receives. This makes it important to find broadband services at low costs, and it is that charge that Alpheus has been able to meet. Alpheus called Goodwill’s mission “as challenging as it is noble” and said it is proud to help the cause.
