With Thanksgiving and Black Friday (News - Alert) now behind us, it's time to get back in full swing with session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking. There's a lot going on in this market, and with a weekend here, it's a great time to run down all the news that happened this week. So settle in and get into our Week in Review coverage!

First, word from Integra arrived on the launch of its Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) Cloud Voice system. With UC Cloud Voice, users can move those necessary communications tools to the cloud and make it possible for employees, regardless of location, to use the same contact tools to keep in touch. Mainly geared toward call centers, it includes an array of useful tools from call routing to collaboration systems, with rapid updates thanks to Integra handling all the necessary server maintenance.

Next, Epygi Technologies brought out new upgrades for its QX system. Software 6.1.5, as it's known, offers some substantial new tools, including a new automatic call distributor (ACD) system to help keep better track of call queues. Also included is a new phone book system, a new recording tool, and a set of enhancements for several tools already in place. Those interested in trying the new ACD can find it as part of three of Epygi (News - Alert)'s products: the QX50, the QX200 and the QX2000.

IP Phone Warehouse premiered the Grandstream GXP1630 IP phone, a phone with small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in mind. Supporting three SIP accounts at once and allowing for four-way conferencing, all without being particularly difficult to operate – and being run on Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity – it's got a lot of what SMBs would want. Plus, there's built-in HD audio and a Linux base for extra interoperability.

Then Wave stepped into the fray with word of Hosted Voice, its new cloud-based phone system. Designed to replace the private branch exchange (PBX (News - Alert)) switch and take advantage of Wave's fiber network, Hosted Voice allows for a flat fee to start with, scalable upward as businesses need more connectivity.

Finally, Pascom announced that its mobydick system would have a new value added reseller (VAR) connected to it: NetVoIP. The mobydick system offers a complete phone system for businesses, built using open standards based on Asterisk (News - Alert), that can be scaled up or down as needs required.

That was the week that was in SIP trunking, and a big week it was. We had a lot going on, and our global online community was constantly bringing back the best in news. So be sure to join us back here next week for all the latest news, and every weekend for our Week in Review coverage!
