Lately, no matter what area of telecommunications, emerging markets tend to be the most interesting as new and established industry players make moves to update and establish themselves. A recent example of this involves global networking software and infrastructure solution provider Dialogic (News - Alert) helping a network operator in Bangladesh upgrade its network.

The operator in question is Global Voice Telecom Limited (gvtele), one of only a few operators in the country currently providing international gateway (IGW) services. Gvtele has upgraded its network with Dialogic’s IMS-ready intelligent call and session control solutions, helping to lower costs while positioning the network operator to provide advance services to the Bangladesh market.

In October, Dialogic released PowerMedia XMS 3.0 server, bringing support for advanced WebRTC applications to the platform. PowerMedia can handle over 2,000 simultaneous voice sessions and 450 video sessions, with support for IMS, MRF, enterprise and WebRTC.

“We are pleased to be gvtele’s technology and solution partner in helping them provide high quality connectivity and routing services,” said Jim Machi, senior vice president of Product Management and Marketing at Dialogic. “The advanced features of the ControlSwitch System, signaling, VoIP session control, and media handling solutions enable operators around the globe to upgrade their outdated infrastructure and reduce costs to stay competitive.”

As part of its network upgrade, gvtele deployed Dialogic’s ControlSwitch System softswitch, BorderNet 4000 session border controller (SBC), I-Gate 4000 media gateways, and I-Gate 4000 Session Bandwidth (News - Alert) Optimizer Core X solutions for its IGW implementation. These solutions together were able to meet the strict requirements required of gvtele if the operator wanted to comply as an IGW operator, most notably monitoring and reporting for audit and revenue sharing purposes.

The ControlSwitch System offers excellent performance with a footprint 80 percent reduced compared to traditional switching vendors in the market, while consuming 66 percent less power. Best of all, with its unique plug and play bandwidth compression, the Dialogic solution allows operators to reduce the amount of required international connectivity, saving upwards of 70 percent on leased bandwidth cost.
