After helping recent cloud communication deployments in the education space, Mitel (News - Alert) is introducing a 40 percent off retail discount for E-Rate funded purchases to help K-12 school that haven’t implemented a cloud-based solution yet do so before government funding for voice services gets phased out in 2019. The company’s cloud-based platform offers an alternative to traditional telephony, while providing a secure, low-cost solution with superior quality and reliability.

Mitel’s cloud-based solutions in particular have been lauded by education customers. Illinois' West Aurora School District 129, for example, worked with Mitel partner Sound Incorporated to implement a hosted cloud solution to support 20 buildings while bypassing constraints of non-cloud-based options. This deployment included access to productivity-enhancing features.

Similarly, Mitel partner Allegiant deployed a Mitel solution for Raytown Quality Schools in Missouri, replacing an outdated system and giving its staff of 1,300 the ability to connect and collaborate with each other easily.

In November, Mitel announced the extension of an existing partnership with communications and collaboration specialist Vidyo (News - Alert). This extension allowed Mitel to seamlessly integrate Vidyo’s APIs into its own solutions, enabling flexible video conferencing capabilities from any mobile endpoint—an essential feature for an increasingly mobile workforce.

“Schools are turning to the cloud to modernize and standardize as they look to simplify communications, lower cost of ownership, acquire more features and increase reliability,” said Wes Durow (News - Alert), chief marketing officer at Mitel. “Mitel's education solutions also help them ultimately derive value from the practical application of empowering staff, improving parents' involvement, enhancing safety and enabling better student outcomes.”

Mitel is a major player in real-time business, cloud and mobile communications. It currently handles more than two billion business connections and two billion mobile subscribers, while helping businesses and mobile carriers connect, collaborate and provide innovative services to their customers.
