D2 Technologies, an embedded IP communications software solutions provider, recently announced that its VoIP technology is processing more than 40 billion minutes of traffic per month. It attributed this record volume to an increasing number of new products embedding its vPort VoIP solution. System on a Chip vendors and hardware and mobile device users embedding its solution into new products have been customers for this product.
As an embedded solution, vPort will enable OEMs and telecom service providers to improve on time to market the most advanced mobile and customer premise equipment communications products. Features of vPort include Integrated Circuit and core processor support, ability to port onto new and proprietary operating systems, unified and IP communications, video call and chat capability, high voice quality, instant messaging and multi protocol support for GoogleTalk, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and SIP. The latest version vPort 2.0 is expected to provide support in the development of femtocells, WiMAX (News - Alert) mobile internet device and mobile handset products.
“VPort is well-known for its high voice quality, unmatched interoperability and rich feature set, and is field proven in many service provider, enterprise and connected home deployments,” said Doug Makishima (News - Alert), vice president of marketing and sales at D2 Technologies. “vPort is available on the widest array of SoC’s and ODM/OEM platforms in the industry. As a result, manufacturers are using vPort to more quickly and affordably deliver new VoIP-enabled communications devices to market – and, as a result, enabling D2 to establish the 40 billion processed VoIP minutes per month benchmark.”
D2 customers and partner products using vPort include Cavium Networks and its Octeon family of processors, Freescale Semiconductor’s PowerQUICC II Pro System on a Chip platform, U4EA Technologies and its Horizon HG1100 Home Office gateway, Applied Micro Circuits Corporation’s PowerPC 405EX embedded processor, and SFR’s Neufbox gateway for the Neuf Telecom network.
A demonstration of vPort on Cavium Networks’ (News - Alert) processors is expected to be conducted at the ongoing global business technology event, Interop 2009, in Las Vegas. The event is being held through May 21st at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and the exhibit is on display at Booth no. 1943.
