XO Communications has announced the expansion of its nationwide network across the Inland Empire region of Southern California. In addition to this expansion, the company has also opened a new sales office in Ontario with over a dozen new sales staff and support personnel.
With this new expansion, the company is able to extend the reach of its 19,000-mile nationwide network and establish points of presence locations across the region. As a result, XO Communications (News - Alert) can serve thousands of new businesses, offering them a more competitive alternative for their local and nationwide communications and networking needs.
XO Communications already enjoys a presence in Southern California, where it operates metro fiber networks that span more than 600 route miles and employs more than 150 communications professionals.
"In today's economy, businesses large and small are reevaluating their IT expenditures and seeking the high-quality, cost-effective and diverse solutions that XO offers," said Jim Ferguson, vice president for the Pacific region at XO Communications, in a statement.
"With this network investment, we're confident that area businesses will see XO as a strategic option for those looking to maximize their network investments and enhance their overall IT capabilities."
XO Communications offers businesses solutions that enable them to seamlessly connect all of their locations regardless of size of location with a broad range of cost-effective and scalable high performance networking services; improve all communications with next generation IP voice and Unified Communications (News - Alert); simplify and get better control with managed solutions; ensures the integrity, performance and security of applications, information and networks; and optimize business performance.
This latest expansion is part of XO Communications’ strategy to invest in its nationwide network through the broadening of its service areas within existing markets and expansion into new markets. The Inland Empire is the second largest metropolitan area in Southern California and is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States.
Earlier this year, XO Communications announced with Fonality that Fonality’s (News - Alert) PBXtra and trixbox Pro phone systems have passed XO Communications' certification for standard interoperability with XO SIP, XO's award-winning SIP-based integrated voice and data communications solution.
In April XO Communications launched its IP-based voice and data communications services in Raleigh. This expansion marks the company's second network expansion within the North Carolina market. The company launched in Charlotte last spring and is now fully operational in Raleigh.
