Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless today announced that the company plans to launch a 4G network in 2010, for better speed and a superior technology platform. Currently, Verizon covers over 80 percent of the U.S. population with its high-speed 3G network, according to the company.
Verizon Wireless is the builder and operator of the well-known wireless network in Florida, company officials say. Their network and service allows customers to browse the Internet, download music, and send e-mail, picture and video messages faster, in more places, company officials say.
The company says it’ll use the LTE (News - Alert) (Long Term Evolution) technology and the nationwide 700 MHz spectrum that it recently purchased for this project.
Customers will be able to access data faster, at high speeds, and provide a common wireless technology platform with LTE, according to the company. This platform will be compatible with existing network technologies of both Verizon and Vodafone (News - Alert), the joint owners of Verizon Wireless, company officials say.
Jack Plating, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless said, “Our high-speed network’s size, scope and reliability give our customers the best wireless experience in the industry. Our dedication to investing in and expanding our voice and data network is the bedrock of what we do, both for our customers and as a business.”
Verizon Wireless claims to operate the nation’s most reliable wireless voice and data network. They say they’re one of the top builders of advanced wireless networks. The company was the first to offer 3G wireless broadband service to customers, which was as early as 2003, company officials say.
This ever-increasing network upgraded national wireless broadband network to CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized Revision last summer, company officials say. CDMA1x is a technology that allows faster uploads, according to the company.
Real-life test men and women observe the network closely, on a daily basis, according to the company. The company claims to deliver superior user experience.
