WVT Communications Seals $17 Million Deal to Acquire Alteva

Warwick Valley Telephone Company (WVT Communications), a full service cloud communications company, announced the finalization of the acquisition of Alteva (News - Alert).


The $17 million acquisition took place just weeks after the official announcement.

Following the closing, the executive teams of Alteva and WVT will be integrated and jointly manage the merged operation. Alteva has begun integrating its operations with the existing cloud communications group of WVT, the sources at WVT disclosed in a press release.

Through its existing subsidiary, USA Datanet, and other affiliated companies, WVT offers local, long distance, Internet, video, network, unified communications, VoIP and other cloud services.

The Philadelphia based enterprise-hosted VoIP and UC solutions provider, Alteva has business presence in all of the USA’s 50 states and in four continents.

The take-over of Alteva is expected to help WVT significantly strengthen its CLEC business, and expand its cloud strategy for unified communications and hosted applications for small, medium and large enterprise customers.

Under the new organizational structure, Duane Albro will remain CEO of WVT and

Ralph Martucci the CFO.David Cuthbert (News - Alert) will serve as COO of WVT and as President of its wholly owned subsidiaries Alteva and USA Datanet. WVT announced the name of John S. Mercer as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer, while Patrick W. Welsh, III will serve as Chief Administrative Officer of WVT.

Louis Hayner will serve as Chief Sales Officer of WVT and its wholly owned subsidiaries Alteva and USA Datanet.

Mark Marquez (News - Alert), Chief Technology Officer of Alteva, will become Chief Network Officer for WVT and its wholly owned subsidiaries Alteva and USA Datanet.

Alteva founder, William Bumbernick, will continue to be designated as Chief Innovation Consultant to WVT and its wholly owned subsidiaries Alteva and USA Datanet.

On Monday, WVT Communications announced that Virginia Quackenbush has been designated as president of Warwick Valley Telephone Company, a division of WVT Communications. In her new role, Quackenbush will oversee all telephone operations in the areas where Warwick Valley Telephone is the incumbent franchise telephone provider, including Warwick, Pine Island and Florida, NY; Vernon and Upper Greenwood Lake, NJ.
