ShoreTel (News - Alert), a provider of a simple unified communications platform, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Williams F1 Team to bring a new set of unified communications and collaboration tools to its portfolio. This will give Williams F1 Team access to ShoreTel technology, while ShoreTel will become a major player across William’s organization.

“This exciting new partnership with the Williams F1 Team positions ShoreTel at the cutting edge of technology in an increasingly relevant international market,” said Adrian Hipkiss, ShoreTel’s EMEA vice president and managing director, in a statement.

Hipkiss added, “We are joining forces with a company that shares our forward-thinking vision and one that also thrives on delivering state-of-the-art technology. This new partnership allows us to demonstrate our award-winning telephony solutions with one of the world’s leading engineering companies, whose day-to-day operations, both at the factory and at 19 Formula One™ races around the world, rely on brilliantly simple unified communications.”

This partnership comes on the heels of another announcement made by ShoreTel earlier this week. The phone company has decided to experiment with hybrid UC solutions that will enable customers to take advantage of its services through an online service such as the cloud.

ShoreTel said it would move into the “next phase” of its hybrid solution by testing everything including external testing with the customers and resellers this summer. As long as everything goes okay, the unified communications provider will begin offering the services to its clients shortly there after.

Company officials concluded, “Upon completion of the testing phase and rollout of general availability, customers will have the option to choose premise- or cloud-based UC solutions and applications but also the ability to include the best of both in an integrated solution. For example, ShoreTel’s premise-based customers will be able to consume and deploy UC applications via the cloud on a monthly basis.”
