Apptix, a provider of hosted Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange e-mail, Microsoft SharePoint, and hosted VoIP voice services for businesses throughout the world, announced its inclusion on Software Magazine’s Software 500 ranking.

Now in its 27th year, the Software 500 ranking is a collection of the world’s largest software and service providers. This is the third year that Apptix (News - Alert) has been included in this list.

Ranking second in the category of Application Managed Service Provider, Apptix actually moved up the list from number 326 in 2007 and 292 in 2008 to 274 for 2009 with software revenue of $41.4 million for the year.

“Apptix’s inclusion and rise in the Software 500 for the third straight year highlights our
employees’ persistence in providing our customers with operational and service excellence,” said David Ehrhardt (News - Alert), president and CEO of Apptix, in a statement. “Our proven customer service and comprehensive services portfolio have positioned us to continue to grow as businesses from SoHo to the enterprise turn to hosted services to more efficiently utilize IT staff and resources in the current economy.”

The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers that target medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers responsible for the purchasing of software and services.

“The 2009 Software 500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy, with total Software 500 revenue of $491.3 billion worldwide for 2008 representing 8.8 percent growth from the previous year,” said John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com.

In providing business messaging and communications services for companies throughout the world, Apptix delivers such solutions as Microsoft Exchange e-mail, Microsoft
SharePoint, Microsoft Live Meeting Web conferencing, Microsoft Communicator secure Instant Messaging, VoIP phone service, and online back-up.

Apptix continues to seek top rankings in measurable achievements. The company has also announced that Chris Mack (News - Alert), its chief financial officer, has been named a finalist for the Washington Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Award. This recognition honors financial professionals in the greater Washington, DC area for their outstanding performance as corporate financial stewards.

Earlier this year, Search Mojo, an Apptix customer, revealed savings of nearly 42 percent in capital and recurring service costs by leveraging hosted business VoIP from the company. Such performance in the market helps to secure Apptix as a proven provider.
