SIPX Tested for Interoperability between Nokia Siemens VoIP, XConnect

By Arun Satapathy, TMCnet Contributor

The Dutch Cable SIP Exchange Project has announced the successful test of interoperability between its peering system, provided by XConnect Global Networks, and the Nokia (News - Alert) Siemens Networks hiQ VoIP platform.

Developed by XConnect Global Networks and Kayote Networks (News - Alert), the SIPX is a cable telephony peering federation project.

The SIPX will now able to provide IP interconnect to its users enabling call from one network to another without any PSTN and associated toll charges.

An uninterrupted IP path would also help participating cable telephony providers offer hi-fidelity codecs and video telephony on a cross-network basis.

SIPX can now be connected to existing C7 IN based hiQ platforms for full interconnection to voice services provided by SIPX members. The tested solution provides ENUM based routing and IP interconnectivity to the SIPX members with C7 IN based routing.

The test also showed successful integration of ENUM directory services provided by XConnect within the Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Networks environment.

“We are delighted that with this successful integration with Nokia Siemens Networks hiQ platform, peering federations like the SIPX are possible in large telecom environments,” said Sikko de Graaf, director of CAIW. “For the first time it is proven that hybrid implementations of ENUM and IN interconnection can work perfectly together within a peering federation. It will have a great impact on the VoIP peering industry.”

“We are pleased that SIPX testing proved that the hiQ systems, which are part of our Consumer and Business VoIP solution, worked seamlessly together with the XConnect (News - Alert) ENUM peering federation setup of SIPX as well as providing the fallback mechanism to C7,” said Marcel Legtenberg, an account manager at Nokia Siemens Networks.

“We are delighted on the successful milestone of achieving integration of the XConnect powered SIPX ENUM Registry with the Nokia Siemens Networks hiQ switches’ ENUM query and C7 IN features,” said Eli Katz, Founder and chief executive officer of XConnect.

XConnect is a provider of ‘Plug and Peer’ VoIP federation-based interconnection services for connecting telecom operators and enabling rich multi-media end-to -end IP communications.
