NetMotion Intros Windows 7 Beta Support for Mobility XE

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Supporting the mobile deployments of more than 1,400 businesses and agencies, NetMotion Wireless reportedly has announced the availability of a beta version of its Mobile VPN, Mobility XE. Compatible with Windows 7 Beta, the product is available to NetMotion customers and prospects for download.

Mobile VPN is a technology that provides mobile workers with secure, reliable and remote access to network resources and information from virtually anywhere. The technology can deal with the unique challenges associated with mobile computing such as wireless security, performance and roaming.

NetMotion supports customers who perform their day-to-day duties throughout wireless coverage areas or in campus-based settings such as hospitals or enterprises. The company’s Mobility XE is used by more than 330,000 mobile workers all over the world to solve some of the most common challenges in mobile deployments. This includes application stability as users move in and out of wireless coverage areas, and seamless roaming between WiFi (News - Alert) and wide-area cellular networks.

“As our customers plan their technology budgets, they are faced with the difficult task of evaluating new technology before it officially comes to market,” said Pam Cory, vice president of marketing at NetMotion. “Our core focus is ensuring productivity for mobile workers, and with our new support for the Windows 7 Beta, our customers are able to evaluate the upcoming operating system for their mobile workers.”

Extending corporate security policies to mobile devices, the company provides advanced reporting, security and network management controls. It also allows customers to utilize their existing mobile investments to reliably deploy real-time applications such as VoIP and streaming video.

The company recently announced that its Mobile Virtual Private Network solution has been deployed by the Puget Sound Blood Center to provide its mobile clinicians with access to wireless data and applications as they move across Washington State, serving more than 185 hospitals and clinics. For healthcare providers, NetMotion’s software provides a secure connection to patient information across numerous wireless networks.
