EMBARQ Launches Managed VoIP Service

Offering around-the-clock monitoring and alerting solutions to its customers, EMBARQ has introduced an IP solution, “EMBARQ Managed IP Telephony,” or “MIPT,” which is designed to take care of a company’s entire voice communications system. 

 
The deepening recession has forced many companies to cut costs and merge existing technologies for increased efficiency. But merging such technologies can be a disadvantage if it’s not done properly. Companies such as EMBARQ help clients in this by offering service like MIPT.
 
EMBARQ’s MIPT service helps in life-cycle support and monitoring and offers two levels of protection to match the changing needs of a company. The Monitoring and Alerting Service provided by this solution includes: an always-on device monitoring; up/down and ticket status; remote diagnostics and minor remote repairs; help desk support with around-the-clock, live response; notification of events through phone, e-mail or both; and monthly traffic and alarm activity reporting.
 
“Unmanaged growth could result in problems with speed, throughput, response time and other issues causing jitter and latency,” said Susan McQueeny-Scholes, director of marketing communications for EMBARQ Business. “Allowing EMBARQ to take care of these issues can help businesses focus on their core competencies while lowering their costs and needs for internal support.”
 
For customers of its MIPT service, EMBARQ provides advantages such as software management services, including: annual major software updates; assigned technical engineer; on-demand business management reporting through a secure Web portal; proactive management of alarm monitoring, notification and escalation; design and engineering assistance; and Project implementation.
 
Recently, the company selected InfoVista‘s VistaInsight for Networks to take the company’s customer and internal reporting capabilities to the next level. EMBARQ selected InfoVista’s software to provide support for its performance management and reporting needs in current and next generation networks. EMBARQ has rolled out support for the MPLS backbone and Carrier Ethernet environments, making it easier for customers to have detailed visibility of performance for their business-critical data services, as well as advanced Ethernet services.
