Chinook to Support BroadSoft's UC Deployment of MS Office Communications Server

BroadSoft selects Chinook Hosting, specializing in the hosted applications industry to support its internal Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) deployment on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Release 2.

This deployment is expected to enhance workforce productivity by improving upon the internal and eternal communications and collaboration besides providing complete desktop collaboration with remote users, said BroadSoft (News - Alert).

Specializing in VoIP applications, BroadSoft’s workforce includes road warriors and hence dispersed collaborative teams. The company strives to streamline communications, enhance information sharing and automate business processes covering its worldwide operations. This is expected to enable employees to work from any where and collaborate in real-time.

Chinook will be delivering a premium Hosted UC solution which can integrate BroadSoft’s BroadWorks VoIP application platform and Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 hosted at Chinook.

This solution encompasses hosted e-mail, instant messaging and user presence with BroadWorks enabling the company to benefit from capabilities like click-to-call from the user’s desktop. Real-time presence indication, secure instant messaging, desktop and application sharing on the network are added features.

“Building on our expertise in UC, BroadSoft understands the vast productivity and collaboration enhancements gained from the real-time integration of Hosted PBX (News - Alert), mobility, video and Web 2.0,” said Michael Tessler, co-founder and CEO, BroadSoft.

“We expect these benefits coupled with the inherent value of a hosted solution -- rapid service turn-up, limited capital expense, immediate global coverage, and improved communications resiliency -- to generate extraordinary productivity improvements that will positively impact our bottom line,” added Tessler.

BroadSoft officials aid that it can increase its productivity cost effectively by enhancing communications between employees via contextual user presence awareness, technical support to remotely control a customer’s desktop and capability to view other employee real-time call status. The UC solution allows geographically-dispersed developers to collaborate on projects especially during design reviews by using video conferencing which also reduces travel expenses considerably.

Chinook Hosting’s CEO Steve Schwartz remarked that Chinook Hosting has gained a lot in technology development by working with BroadSoft, both as a partner to develop and deliver Hosted UC to small and medium-sized businesses, and in the planning and implementation of their internal UC solution.

“Our joint success has demonstrated the great potential in integrating BroadWorks with the Microsoft UC platform,” he added.
