Nimbuzz Opens New Offices in U.S., U.K. to Expand Global Presence

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Nimbuzz, a multi community mobile social messaging and VoIP provider, reportedly has expanded its global presence by opening two new offices, one in Palo Alto (News - Alert), Calif., and another in London.

Nimbuzz offers a mobile service, also called as ‘Nimbuzz,’ which lets users not only make free and low cost mobile calls, but also lets them send free messages, enables social networking and other rich communication features - from their mobile devices.

Launched in May 2008, the Nimbuzz mobile service application leverages Internet capabilities of a user’s mobile device and integrates VoIP, instant-messaging, and presence into a single platform, thereby making the user more productive when on the go.

Officials at Nimbuzz said that the application is now considered as a global communications platform for seamless IP-based communication among mobile devices and social media platforms.\

Currently, Nimbuzz is available on many devices across all major platforms, such as Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone, iPod touch, Android (News - Alert), J2ME, as well as Windows and Mac desktop computers. Some of the social networks and communities supported by the application include Skype, Facebook, MSN, Google TalkTM, Yahoo!, AIM, MySpace (News - Alert), and more.

With the opening of new office in the U.S., Nimbuzz announced that Tobias Kemper would lead the office. Prior to that, Kemper was head of communications at Nimbuzz.

Official at Nimbuzz said that the newly opened U.S. office will focus on business development, in order to strengthen its third-party relationships within all sections of the U.S. mobile eco system. Additionally, this office will also carry out U.S.-focused marketing and communications and local grass roots activity including work with Nimbuzz’ highly active group of ambassador users through an official Nimbuzz USA blog.

Nimbuzz also announced that Neal Fullman, the company’s chief marketing officer, and Geoff Casely, business development head, together will manage the company’s global marketing, communications, design, and business development efforts from the new office in London.
Both the new offices in U.S. and U.K. join company’s growing international network that includes headquarters in Rotterdam, offices in India, Argentina, Brazil and local representation throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and Asia.

According to Kemper, Nimbuzz has a huge number of users in the USA and the launch of new office will support and better respond to the needs of growing user base in the region along with local representation. Additionally, the company will be well positioned to take advantage of the unrivalled business development, media and networking opportunities which exist in this area.

“The opening of our U.S. and U.K. offices represent something of a milestone for Nimbuzz,” said Evert Jaap Lugt, founder and CEO of Nimbuzz, in a statement. “They come at a time of extraordinary growth, with our total number of downloads fast approaching 10 million, on GetJar alone, and new registrations exceeding 1 million every month.”
