Acme Packet SBC Qualified Under MS Enterprise SBC Category UCOIP Lync Server 2010 Program

Acme Packet (News - Alert) announced that its Net-Net Session Director Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC) solutions for Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync Server 2010 have been selected to be part of the new Enterprise SBC category in Microsoft’s Lync Server Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program (UCOIP).


In a release Kapil Sharma, principal group Program manager at Microsoft said, “Acme Packet E-SBCs complement the capabilities of Lync Server and help address tough interoperability challenges. Microsoft is pleased to team with Acme Packet in helping customers transform their communications for increased collaboration and productivity.”

Acme Packet, specializing in session delivery networks, said that its E-SBCs are specially designed to complement Lync Server as they can deliver advanced SIP features and also protect investments made on legacy telephony infrastructure as well.

According to officials the UCOIP qualification program for enterprise telephony services and infrastructure offer seamless experiences with setup, support, and use of qualified telephony infrastructure and services for all customers. This is provided along with Microsoft’s unified communications software, including Lync Server and Exchange Server.

The products that are picked for the UCOIP are those that meet all rigorous and extensive testing requirements besides also conforming to specifications and test plans.

Officials added that Acme Packet E-SBCs qualified with Microsoft Lync Server synergizes diverse IP telephony and UC solutions to enable uniform enterprise-wide networks that improve collaboration and productivity. These solutions can also solve common protocol interworking issues for the easy adoption of advanced SIP trunking services.

Mark Vella, vice president of business development at Acme Packet said, “With Lync Server, Microsoft has successfully extended the power of unified communications to embrace desktop voice and video communications. The new E-SBC category in the UCOIP program recognizes the important multivendor interoperability and control functions offered by E-SBCs in IP communications environments and we're excited to be the first qualified E-SBC in the program.”

Acme Packet also announced the appointment of Seamus Hourihan (News - Alert) as senior vice president of Corporate Strategy and Marianne Budnik as chief marketing officer.
