Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN), regarded as the fastest growing broadband service provider in Hong Kong with a long fiber service reach, is set to modernize its communication network with the help of the GENBAND GENiUS all-IP platform.
GENBAND (News - Alert) will transform HKBN's network by migrating TDM and first generation VoIP switches and SIP servers to its GENiUS-powered IP solution, offering advanced business and residential communications capabilities across the region, according to company officials.
Considered as industry’s leading unified IP Switching and networking platform supporting multipurpose IP solutions, GENiUS will make it easier for service providers to deploy and operate their networks, increase revenue generation opportunities and reduce total cost of ownership.
In addition, the all-IP GENiUS platform will help achieve a savings in equipment floor space and power consumption. Further, the platform has the ability to mix and match applications and can host any combination of IMS ready modules.
According to Mark Pugerude (News - Alert), president, global sales and marketing at GENBAND, using a single platform, consumers can seamlessly integrate HKBN's services using the company's mobile solutions along with geo-redunant call control.
GENBAND's cloud-based and multimedia applications, local and interconnect call control, and session border control are all offered on its software-centric GENiUS platform.
“Through interconnections enabled at the IP level by GENBAND's Intelligent S3 SBC, we also enhance our support for the International Direct Dialing market," said Lo Sui Lun, chief technology officer at HKBN.
Over the past five years, GENBAND has achieved 80 percent compound annual growth and today employs more than 2,000 full-time employees serving customers in all parts of the world. With more than 240 million installed IP ports globally, GENBAND enjoys the largest installed next generation networking base in the industry.
Recently, GENBAND introduced its GENBAND Rich Communications Suite-enhanced solution powered by the A2 Communications Application Server and S3 Session Border Controller.
