Dovado has announced the Dovado PRO, a mobile broadband router designed for homes and offices.
“Mobile broadband offers more than just high speed Internet," said Erik Arthur, Dovado CEO. "The feature-rich Dovado PRO not only delivers dependable mobile broadband sharing, it allows users to take advantage of their connection for advanced 'smart home' functions and save money on utility costs. As the clamor for the 'connected home' and 'Internet of things' grows, the PRO leaves us well placed to satisfy the needs of a greater number of consumers."
The router connects to the Internet via a USB modem and supports both Category 4 LTE (News - Alert) devices with download speeds of up to 150 Mbps, making the throughput comparable to a wired broadband connection.
In addition to faster Internet speeds, the router also allows for SMS/app control, allowing users to control “connected home” functions such as heating or lighting from their mobile devices.
The Dovado PRO router can also function as a server using NAS, transferring data to and from devices at up to 180 Mbps.
The router also includes a number of features to keep the connections up. The Dovado PRO has two SmartUSB ports to repower modems in case of a power failure. In addition, it has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, four ports for LAN connections and one for a WAN connection. The router can fail over from wireless to wired broadband.
Dovado has also introduced a portable 4G router, the GO, allowing users to take their broadband connections with them. In addition to a standard electrical connection, it can run off a battery.
"People nowadays rely on being connected more and more: whether it's for work or play, indoors or out and about," Arthur said at the time of the announcement. "With Dovado GO, the days of a power cut meaning no connectivity are over, giving users an Internet connection they can rely on at all times and take with them wherever they go.”
