Opengear, Reilly Telecom Expand Avaya Products Monitoring

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Opengear, a leading next-generation remote management and console server solutions provider, announced that it aims to expand the capabilities surrounding monitoring Avaya (News - Alert) products, by integrating them with AlarmTraq, designed by Reilly Telecom. AlarmTraq is essentially an alarm monitoring and management solution for Avaya VoIP systems, and provides corrective proactive solutions to diagnose and resolve problems associated with each alarm remotely. It can be leveraged for Avaya dealers in both small and medium businesses, as well as large enterprise markets.

Opengear (News - Alert) has a wide range of products, including Console Servers, providing secure remote access to network devices such as routers, server, firewall, and switches including the ACM5000 family of products; device servers enable simple serial connectivity with configurable alarms; terminal servers connect to network resources like mainframes; Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140; single port KVM over IP access, power management; environmental monitoring enables alerting solutions; and central management consists of the entire operation, administration and management solutions.

The ACM5000 suite of products, one of Opengear’s fastest growing product lines, employs IPSec VPN for advanced security, and a validated embedded FIPS140-2 OpenSSL cryptographic module that can meet the most demanding applications, and it has been certified, Certificate No. 1051. It has been programmed on open source Linux platform and is easily programmable; it automatically initiates secure IP session right from the fire-walled networks to the central management system. It provides complex SNMP integration and support. The ACM5000s have been used in hospital systems, government agencies, and financial institutions. The resulting integrated solution, AlarmTraq utilizes Opengear’s CM4001 and ACM5003-M, and it can remotely manage and monitor Avaya Communications Manager Servers in a secure environment, over dial-up SSH tunnel used for maintenance and administration purposes.

In a press release, the VP of Sales and Marketing of Opengear North America, Todd Rychecky, said, "AlarmTraq is used by a number of important Avaya customers. The integration with Opengear gives AlarmTraq users more flexibility to easily manage Avaya equipment remotely and securely."

The founder and CEO of Reilly Telecom, Jim Reilly, continued, "Opengear's flexible open source solution allowed us the ability to write custom scripts for a seamless Opengear/Avaya integration and a secure SSH tunnel for the remote connectivity. We have been very pleased with the Opengear product as it gives our Avaya Dealers and Business Partners a remote access device that complements nicely with the AlarmTraq solution."
