Dax Networks Launches DX-509MG Series Ethernet Switches

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Dax Networks, an India-based networking company, announced the launch of a range of high performance L2 Managed Fast Ethernet Switches.

The DX-509MG Series is suitable for retail applications as well as broadband distribution, the company said.

The three models of DX-509MG Series are “DX-509MG,” the basic model; “DX-509MGE,” the enhanced model, and “DX-509MG-POE,” the PEO model.

The basic model DX-509MG series is designed for small networks where the number of users being connected will be minimum, company officials said. DX-509MG series can be used to connect end point PCs at the access level in a campus network.

DX-509MG series consists of eight 10/100 ports, eight RJ45 connectors and one Gigabit combo uplink port. They allow secure switching. The Security IP function embedded in DX-509MG series restricts unauthorized users from accessing and altering configurations. DX-509MG Series follows full Access Control List or “ACL” policy.

The switch also supports 802.1X authentication and RADIUS, which gives the ability to network securely. Maximum security of switch configuration is guaranteed through SSH protocol and HTTPS/SSL connection, company officials said

The enhanced version or “DX-509MGE” supports IPv6/IPv4 dual stack. This will help protect the customer’s investment. It also supports IPv6 host, manager and application.

The DX-509MG POE model can be used for connecting all ports to any POE enabled device like IP Cameras, IP Phones, Access Points and so on. At the same time the switch also provides up to 15.4 Watts to the powered devices or “PD” which conforms to IEEE (News - Alert) 802.3af and pre-802.3af devices.

Various tasks on the network can be prioritized with IEEE 802.1p Quality of Service or “QoS” feature in the DX-509MG Series. Network bandwidth can be preserved with Rate-limiting based on port. Maximum control of network resources is also possible, company officials said.

Dax DX-509MG Series supports Simple Network Management Protocol. It also supports in-band and out-band management, Command-Line Interface or “CLI” and Web interface and Remote Network MONitoring or “RMON.”.

DX-509MG Series has 3-year carry-in warranty and provides online support for customers.

Authorized Dax Solution Providers or “ADSPs” and system integrators will market this product, the company said.
