Bouygues Telecom, in association with Devicescape, will offer automatic connections with maximum speeds of 42 Mbit/s to at least 8 million complimentary Wi-Fi hotspots across the globe at no extra cost, effectively supplementing its 3G+ coverage.
Based on the virtual network of Wi-Fi hotspots from Devicescape, the latest service comes with an assurance of quality and bandwidth. Customers of Bouygues Telecom using Android (News - Alert) smartphones will automatically switch to this transparent service when they are within the coverage area of any hotspot.
"France has one of the world's most dynamic telecommunications markets, characterized by extremely rapid growth in high-speed mobile networks, massive take-up of smartphones and high-volume data allotments in most mobile plans,” said Olivier Roussat, CEO at Bouygues Telecom. “Our partnership with Devicescape lets us accommodate growing data traffic on our networks more efficiently and offer our customers an enhanced mobile experience, and above all, free mobile data abroad.”
“The speed at which Devicescape is expanding its network of virtual hotspots was a key factor in our choice, since we can make this solution immediately available to our customers so they can use it during the summer vacation," he added.
Customers of Bouygues Telecom will be able to avail this service at no extra cost for viewing video, social media or surfing online, even while travelling outside France, as millions of hotspots across the globe are included in the Devicescape virtual network.
Bouygues Telecom and B&YOU customers with Android smartphones will soon be able to access the elite B-Wi-Fi application along with the latest service. Users will benefit as this application ensures that the smartphones connect to the best available network through its intelligent administration of 3G+ and Wi-Fi.
